【摘要】:1.1Thisguidecoversproceduresforobtainingdataconcerningtheadverseeffectsofatestmaterialaddedtomarineandestuarinewatersoncertainspeciesofpolychaetesduringshort-orlong-termcontinuousexposure.Thepolychaetespeciesusedinthesetestsaretakenfromlaboratoryculturesandexposedtovaryingconcentrationsofatoxicantinstaticconditions.Theseproceduresmaybeusefulforconductingtoxicitytestswithotherspeciesofpolychaetes,althoughmodificationsmightbenecessary.1.2Modificationsoftheseproceduresmightbejustifiedbyspecialneedsorcircumstances.Althoughusingappropriateproceduresismoreimportantthanfollowingprescribedprocedures,theresultsoftestsconductedusingunusualproceduresarenotlikelytobecomparabletothoseofmanyothertests.Comparisonsofresultsobtainedusingmodifiedandunmodifiedversionsoftheseproceduresmightprovideusefulinformationconcerningnewconceptsandproceduresforconductingacute,chronic,orlife-cycletestswithotherspeciesofpolychaetes.1.3Theseproceduresareapplicabletomostchemicals,eitherindividuallyorinformulations,commercialproducts,andknownorunknownmixtures.Withappropriatemodifications,theseprocedurescanbeusedtoconductthesetestsonfactorssuchastemperature,salinity,anddissolvedoxygen.Theseprocedurescanalsobeusedtoassessthetoxicityofpotentiallytoxicdischargessuchasmunicipalwastes,oildrillingfluids,producedwaterfromoilwellproduction,andothertypesofindustrialwastes.AnLC50(mediallethalconcentration)iscalculatedfromthedatageneratedineachacuteandchronictoxicitytest.Reproductivesuccessandthenumberofoffspringproducedareusedtomeasuretheeffectofatoxicantonlife-cycletests;dataareanalyzedstatisticallytoindicatethatconcentrationatwhichasignificantdifferenceoccursbetweenthetestsolutionsandcontrol(s).1.4TheresultsofacuteorchronictoxicitytestswithtoxicantsaddedexperimentallytosaltwatershouldusuallybereportedintermsofanLC50.Theresultsoflife-cycletoxicitytestswithtoxicantsaddedexperimentallytosaltwatershouldbereportedasthatconcentrationatwhichastatisticallysignificantdifferenceinthenumberofoffspringisproducedwithreferencetothecontrol(s).1.5Thisguideisarrangedasfollows:1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection.
